The Changing
Game
Since this weekend is the first
weekend of the NFL playoffs, it brings to mind, how football is changing and
for fans like me, most of the changes are not for the better. Changing the game
for the safety of the players is a noble endeavor, but many of the so-called
changes for safety is the NFL’s attempt to bring on fans that really don’t like
football, but they want a friendlier and more gentle NFL, and The commissioner
is happy to try and give it to them.
What is really changing the game is “FANTACY
FOOTBALL”. The NFL is making so much money on Fantasy Football that they will
do what they need to do, so they can keep the gravy train going. People who
play Fantasy football could care less about the game, they only care about
statistics. Winning and losing has no interest to these gammers.
The NFL also claims that women make
up a huge portion of their fan base, but again, this is due to Fantasy
football. I don’t know one woman who follows football, But I will bet that the women who are real football fans feel the same way I do.
The
game is becoming unwatchable at times with all the penalties and rules that
favor the offence, so much that eventually it will be no different than
Basketball, no defense at all, and I have stopped watching basketball for the
most part.
When you watch an NFL game now, you
see more of the Referee then you do the quarterback. It's sort of like in my business of Property Management in Anaheim Ca. If you see the plumber instead of the Tenants who live in the home. Penalties have become such
a huge part of the game that you even see Referee’s doing commercials, and I
heard before a game today, how the Head Referee for today’s game probably did
not sleep well the night before, why would I care other than in today’s game
the Referee is so important to the outcome.
I really enjoy Football, but I imagine that in a few years, I
will no longer be able to watch, just like Basketball, the game that I grew up
with will no longer exist
