Why Spring training makes
people feel good
Baseball is not as popular
as it used to be, in fact Football is a much more popular game and there are
many reasons for that, but spring training, still makes people feel good when
it opens as it did a few days ago.
First of all, spring is a
hopeful time of the year, I live in Southern California so the weather is
really not much of an issue, but in other parts of the Country, spring means an
end to the more harsh winter and seeing the Sunshine for an extended period of
time. The flowers also are blooming. I have flowers that seem to just pop up
every spring without any effort of mine. I am always amazed at how these plants
that seems to be on their last leg in the winter, come back stronger and more
beautiful every spring. Smelling the freshly mowed grass brings back
great memories that I have as a young boy, playing outside and for many
people just being able to go outside without all the coats and gloves and
boots, just makes people feel good.
Watching the boys of
summer getting out there and playing a sport that many of us played as kids,
just takes all of us back to simpler times in our live when the most important thing
to us was getting enough kids to play a game of baseball or over the line. I am
amazed, though when I hear commercials asking kids to play 60 minutes a day. How did
kids go from playing all day long to being begged to play just 60 minutes?
In
my business of Property Management in Anaheim Ca. I see many neighborhoods
during the course of my visiting properties, and I rarely see children playing
in the streets like we did when we were kids. I know its boring listening to
people hark back to their childhood and saying how much better it was back in
the day, but no one can deny that kids just don’t play outside anymore and I
think that is a great tragedy.
So the beginning of spring
training should be a great sign for people to get out and play, whether you are
5 or 75, getting outside and doing something is a great thing for everyone.
Spark up the BBQ and clean up the yard, it’s spring and we should spend more
time in the great outdoors then we do sitting around and watching that Boob
Tube or staring at the computer of smart phone screen and parents, let those
kids get out and play.
