Were people really surprised?
I have heard so many people complaining about the so called “fight
of the century”, but were people really surprised? The fight game through the
years has been full of disappointments and phony “fights of the century”. I
have not watched a fight in many years and I have no idea who the champions
are. I was cured of the hype of the promoters many years ago and I am surprised
people still pony up money to watch this junk. I am more surprised that these
same people complain about the lousy fight that they paid for.
It would bother me if I gave these frauds my hard earned
money. I don’t mind paying for good entertainment and I love great sporting
events. The same night of he fights was one of the best playoff basketball
games that I have seen since the Lakers, Celtics in the 80”s. The Clippers and
Spurs played a fantastic game and it cost me nothing to watch and believe me I
was much more entertained then the millions who wasted their money on the so
called fight.
Most people felt they were ripped off, I have even heard of
some law suits being filed. I don’t know if they will have any Merritt and I
think they probably should not. If you were taken in by these modern day con
men, then you should look in the mirror and blame the person you see not the people
who told you to buy the fight.
I guess I am being hard on the people who bought the fight
and then felt they were lied to, but I really don’t think so. In my business of
property Management in Anaheim Ca. I talked to many of my Tenants who were
going to buy the fight and I warned them what would probably be the outcome,
but they wanted to be a part of the event and that is the real truth, people
did not buy the fight because they were expecting a great fight, they wanted to
be part of the event and in that case they got what they paid for. They were
part of a lousy event and it cost them about $100.00. If that is the worst
investment you ever make, consider yourself lucky.
Oh by the way, all you gamblers who lost money on the fight
please don’t whine. They call it gambling for a reason.
