We can learn from those wild animals
I always hear about the gloom and doom of everything, from
the economy to the weather and it seems as though people get caught up so much
in the negativity of life they forget to live.
I often think about how people
learn to swim, compare how people react the first time they get in the water to
dogs. Dogs are scared, but they swim, people panic and would drown if no one
was around to help them.
Why can’t people be more like animals when it comes adapting
to their environment. Animals make due to survive.
I like the story of the
Alaskan pipe line and they found the Caribou had actually reproduced more
because of the warmth of the pipe line, “Imagine that”. Spotted Owls have been
known to nest in Wal Mart signs and these stories about wild animals adapting
to their environments go on and on. You see animals can’t complain they just
find ways to live. Maybe we as people should stop complaining and find ways to
live better.
When I first started in Real Estate, I found so many
Realtor's hanging around the front desk complaining about how tough the Real
Estate business is. Those Realtor's are in every office and they never get ahead
in the business. Most of them last a while and then get out. I learned early
that being in the office was the wrong way to make it in this business. You
need to adapt as the market changes. I was always impressed with the Realtor's
who came up with new and innovating ways of selling themselves. Selling homes
is not complicated, but selling yourself is.
In the animal world, the Lion is king for obvious reasons,
but the real talents are those animals that survive in the king’s jungle. The
Lion will eat the weak, just as life will eat the weak and people need to thing
about survival every day. I hear about so many people giving up and sitting
home waiting for a check from some program to keep them breathing, but that’s not
living. It is such a shame what is happening to our society. When I was a kid,
I was so excited one day, our family was on vacation in San Francisco and we
were going to the Zoo. I wanted to see the Lions, and I did, but I was so disappointed
when I saw the lion handlers throw huge chunks of meat for the Lions to eat. To
my surprise, the Lions seemed to care less about the meat. I thought that they
would devour the food, but they just sat there. My dad explained to me that
they had lost their hunters instinct because the food is going to be there every
day for them and they did not have to fight for it.
I learned a great deal about life that day. People need to
stop waiting for someone else to help them and they need to help themselves or
they will permanently become the Lions in the Zoo.
