What about 2016?
With Christmas a week away, 2016 is right around the corner
and the questions will arise about how 2016 will differ from 2015. I have my
thoughts.
First, since it is a presidential election year all of us
will get tired of all the commercials and by the time we vote, we will be
exhausted from the whole ordeal. I wish we could cut the political season down
to about 6 months instead of 2 years, but all that being said, I do think the
election will have an effect on how people react in 2016.
Real Estate should do OK in 2016, but the rental market will
continue to dominate. People still don’t feel comfortable enough to make any
big moves, so sellers are still going to be hard to find and buyers will have
slim pickings and that will be good news for those who are selling, the prices
should continue to rise.
Rents should continue to rise and that will happen until the
housing market stabilizes and those renters start to buy. I am blown away at
some of the rents people are paying for average homes and eventually these
renters will realize that buying is much better for them, but I don’t think
2016 will be the time.
Buyers should get out there and buy so they can still take
advantage of very low interest rates and even though rates will be going up a
little, they are still great, so if you are ready to buy, 2016 will be a good
low interest rate year.
All in all, my personal forecast: I think 2016 should be
very similar to 2015, I don’t see a huge change.
