Why the kitchen is so important
The one room in the house that everyone uses all the time is
the kitchen. The kitchen is a combination of rooms in most homes. It of course
is where the food is, but it also is a Family room where many family
conversations take place. The kitchen is usually the best lit room in the
house, so it can become a homework room and office. The kitchen is also the
gathering place for people when there are get togethers with family and
friends.
Because the Kitchen has so many duties, then there should be
a great deal of thought about how you organize this multi use room. I have been
in many kitchens and some are great and some are awful. The great kitchens are
clean and uncluttered and prepared for all the jobs that the kitchen is used
for. Let’s break down some ways to keep the kitchen ready for use.
First the most important job of the kitchen is for food
preparation. Keeping things organized is so important and depending on how much
you cook will have a great impact on how you organize the kitchen. Clear off your counters by getting rid of
anything you don’t use at least once per week. Wrap it up in plastic wrap so it
is clean and ready when you do need it, and put it in a cabinet. Make sure you
clean your dirty dishes and pans every day, so your kitchen can be clean and
not have obnoxious odors.
If you use your kitchen for an impromptu office, make sure
you clean up after your work is done. Don’t leave your paperwork and office
supplies in the kitchen. You don’t want your kitchen to look like an office all
the time.
Remember, if you have a TV in the kitchen, you will have much
more traffic, so if you like your kitchen to be more of a kitchen then a
gathering place, then don’t have a TV.
