Treat your fellow Realtor's with respect
As a Real Estate Broker who specializes in Property
Management, I do my best to always treat my fellow Realtor's with respect. In my
business, there is not much money to be made from other Realtor's bringing
people to see my vacant properties, so I always am appreciative when they do.
The problem that persists in the Property Management business is that many
companies want to put their properties on the MLS but not pay their fellow
Realtor's any money. That is not a good way to do business in my opinion.
When I get a call from a Realtor asking about one of my
properties, I always ask them why they are showing rental properties for so
little money and they always inform me that they appreciate that I offer a
respectable amount. They run into properties all the time that offer
very little in the form of compensation.
Part of respecting your fellow Realtor's is respecting their
time and effort. All of us understand how hard it is to deal with clients and
for a Realtor to show a rental property for very little compensation is a sacrifice
of time. Most Realtor's who show rental properties make very little money doing
it, so why do they do it? The answer is simple; they are trying to build up good
will with that client. They hope that in the future they will be able to turn
that good will into a sale. That is not a guarantee.
The Real Estate business is a competitive business and there
is nothing wrong with that, but even though we compete, we also need to
cooperate with each other and respecting the work that each of us do is a great
way to start
