Our Business is Property Management in Orange County California
Are you really listening?
When you are talking to
someone, how frustrating is it when they are looking at everything but you. You
know that they have no interest in what you are saying. You can say that it is
rude, but it’s more than that, it’s infuriating, especially if what you are
saying is important to you.
In
my business of Property
Management in Orange County Ca. I know how important it is for my Clients and
also my
Tenants to hear what I say, but even more important is for me to hear
what they
have to say. Listening is much more than
just hearing the sound people make when their mouth opens, it’s
participating
in the actual conversation.
Think about how often you
hear someone talk, but when they are finished, you have no idea what
they said, or when someone tells you their name and 2 seconds later you
have no idea what it is. This can be a big problem, especially in a
business situation. The conversation
may be important not only to the speaker, but also to the listener and
if the
listener has no idea what the speaker is saying then they have no idea
what the
correct response should be.
We all have been in situations when we have other
things on our mind and we are having a hard time paying attention to a
conversation going on, that we may not have much of an interest in. When that
happens, you need to tell the person that is speaking that you are not in the
right frame of mind to give them the attention that they deserve. This may make
them upset, but at least they understand why their conversation is no being
given the attention that it deserves.
Property Management in Anaheim Ca.
When you really are
listening to someone, you need to look them in the eye, because listening is
more than just hearing words, it is seeing how the other person is reacting. That’s
why phone conversations can often be misunderstood, because on the phone, you
are just hearing words but not seeing the body language of the person speaking.
Giving the speaker your total attention is good not only for the speaker, but
also for the listener. If all parties of a conversation understand what is
being said and the reason for the conversation then the correct response can be
given and there is less chance of a misunderstanding.
Listening takes practice,
so every time someone is talking to you, try and give them your total
attention, even if the conversation is not something you are interested in. The
more practice you get, the easier listening will become and the more people
will appreciate your efforts to give them your full attention.
