Shopping, Shopping, Shopping
With less than two weeks left before Christmas, the shoppers
are feeling the pressure to get it done. I can’t imagine getting within a mile
of a mall or shopping area, in fact I have not been to a mall in years. I have
to be honest, I really don’t understand the craziness of the shoppers, and do
people really care about getting gifts? I understand children being excited,
even at my age I still remember being young and enthusiastic about Christmas
morning and opening the gifts under the tree, but as an adult, I don’t care
about getting gifts, so why do people go so crazy when it comes to buying gifts
this time of year?
Property Management in Anaheim Ca.
I have to say, I am not a Scrooge, I love Christmas time and
I love the thought of giving to others, what I have issues with is worrying
about the giving. I believe that most people would rather you give a donation
in their name, to a charity then give them a gift they may not need or want. I
remember many years ago, I was young and wanted to buy gifts for everyone I
knew. I fell into the trap of just buying things to buy and I at the end of the
buying period, I was so tired and frustrated I just bought anything without
giving much thought to what or who I was buying for. I learned from that
experience and now I only buy gifts for people who are very close to me and for
others I just enjoy their company and well wishes.
In my business of Property Management in Orange County Ca. I
want all my Tenants and Clients to enjoy this Christmas season, and I wish all
of them well, but I never try and give them gifts in order to show then my appreciation.
I remember when I was first starting out in the Real Estate business, I fell
into the trap of thinking that dropping off note pads and other trinkets would ingratiate
me with people and they would call me to sell their home because of what I gave
them. I was cured of this, when I listed a property and on one of the counter were
10 note pads from 10 different Realtors. I learned that I was not what you give
the potential clients that matters, but what you say to them that counts.
So I guess my thinking is that during this time of year, don’t
stress about what you give to people, but how you treat them.
